Fly Tying a Gray Hackle Yellow – Classic Soft Hackle Wet Fly Pattern

The Gray Hackle Yellow, a variant of the 300 year old Gray Hackle Peacock is a traditional soft hackle tied almost akin to the North Country Spiders. An easy-to-tie wet fly pattern that can be fished on the swing or dead drifted through some moderately fast water.

Hook: #12-16 Wet fly (1x short)
Thread: Black
Tail: Red hackle fibers
Rib: Gold oval tinsel
Body: Yellow hackle or floss
Hackle: Gray partridge
